In a truly unexpected turn of events that absolutely no one saw coming, Rockstar Games has graciously decided to push back the release of Grand Theft Auto VI to May 26, 2026 because, let’s be honest, why rush a game that has been in development longer than some players have been alive?
Fans across the globe had just started to believe the long-awaited game would finally hit shelves in 2025, but Rockstar clearly wanted to remind everyone that hope is a dangerous thing. The company made the announcement with the kind of smug confidence only a studio that made billions off shark cards could muster.
Trailer 2 Unveiled
To ease the pain (or perhaps to mock fans further), we’ve been given a second trailer, above. That’s right, another carefully edited montage of cars, guns, and dramatic lighting effects to keep us entertained while we stare into the abyss of yet another extended wait.
Of course, Rockstar assures us that this delay will allow them to craft a “groundbreaking experience” that will “push the limits of gaming.” Which, translated from PR speak, means they probably just realized NPCs still walk like it’s 2013, and someone accidentally placed palm trees in a city that doesn’t have them.
What Now?
In the absence of a tangible game, Rockstar urges fans to remain patient, promising that “this extra year will make all the difference.” By the time GTA VI actually launches, teleportation and flying cars will probably exist and most of Florida will be underwater, making the game itself obsolete.
Until then, we wait. Again.
